The basic function of the elector-corrosion-protection devices is caused by a galvanic element. Oxygen is scavanged, the water is purified and enriched with magnesium-ions. These bind oxygen in the whole pipe-network, stabilise the pH and are available for other reactions that contribute to corrosion-protection in heating systems.

The corrosion protection for heating systems by means of electrochemical water treatment with the elector-corrosion-protection devices is based on physical and chemical reaction. The process is completely safe and works without external energy and without chemical additives - environmentally friendly and cost-saving at the same time.

In the elector-vessels, which are installed into a heating systems, the water is exposed to a galvanic DC current. As a result the dissolved solids become partially undissolved at the electrode surfaces and hydroxide-ions and hydrogen are created. Furthermore, dissolved oxygen and carbon dioxide are consumed due to the electrochemical reaction.

By the use of high-purity magnesium as the anode electrode magnesium ions go into solution, wich combine with the hydroxde ions to magnesium hydroxide.

The magnesium hydroxide is used for adsorption, precipitation and flocculation in both, the elector-vessel and in the entire heating system. In the elector corrosion-protection-device formerly dissolved substances are bound, so that these particles are able to settle down. Existing impurities in the pipe network are dissolved in flour like form, whereby these sludge is able to flow with the volume-flow and finally can be removed by adequate dirt separators or the elector.

The heating water is enriched with magnesium-ions in the elector. These generate a heating water with a pH between 8.5 and 10. By their strong reducing characteristic, they provide at constant binding of oxygen a safe protection of metals such as iron, copper, brass and aluminium from corrosion in the whole system.
